Born and raised in Iowa, Mae learned at a young age how much she loved reading. She fell in love with “big books” at age eight on a road trip with her family for vacation, in reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s On the Banks of Plum Creek and CS Lewis’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and soon you couldn’t see her without a book in hand, or at the very least, within arm’’s reach.

By the time she graduated high school in 2001, she’d received a Heart of Fire award from Poetry.com, and her poem “”Grace” published in one of their anthologies. She loved poetry, but she found her true passion in working on the essays and short stories in a creative writing class. She began writing short stories for friends, who encouraged her to submit them to websites, and, in 2013, she was asked to join the moderating team as a content editor for one of the sites she was published on.

That is when she discovered just how much she loved the written word. In years since, she’s been a social media content editor, a content blog writer for several companies, and has ghost written a number of ebooks. In addition to her work at BOB, she’s also a freelance artist, a corporate communications associate for Barefoot is Legal, and working at writing her first book series.

When not tapping away at her computer, or drawing on her tablet, she enjoys crocheting, music, and spoiling her nieces and nephews at every opportunity.
